Village Design Statement

In May 2005, the group launched an ambitious project to produce a Village Design Statement for Nutley. We asked a broad cross-section of villagers what they considered the distinctive characteristics of the village to be and set up working groups to investigate these characteristics under the headings:

  • Landscape & Wildlife

  • History

  • Village Character

  • Foot Paths

  • Social & Economic profile

The results of the investigations were assembled to form the draft Village Design Statement which was presented to the village at a joint meeting with the Parish Council on 4th November 2005.

On the basis of this, we worked with the Parish Council in the production of a Village Plan to feed into the Local Development Framework.

This will help to ensure sensitive planning and development with the aim of responding to the village's needs and enhancing the character of the village in the future.

We are pleased to announce the VDS has now been completed and printed

If you are a resident of Nutley, you are entitled to a free copy of the brochure which should be delivered to your home over Easter 2007. If you have not received a copy, Please feel free to contact any of the committee members whose details are published on the contacts page or write to our Chairman, Jock Compson at Heatherdene, Clockhouse Lane, Nutley.
